chazthoughts.com / the photo blog of chaz cruz

my name is chaz cruz and I am a photographer splitting time between san diego and NYC. my specialties include weddings, fashion and lifestyle portraits. this blog is named after my obsession with "the office" and of a lovable character named creed bratton. he writes about his random musings under a blog titled "creed thoughts," so I thought I'd do the same and name it "chaz thoughts." so please, browse around and don't forget to leave me a comment or two.

I headed up to San Jose for the wedding of Mary and Eddy, it was a stylish affair at the San Jose Hilton in downtown, which I must say is a pretty swanky spot. I loved their engagement session that we did in San Francisco because of their style, so their wedding definitely didn’t disappoint. A super huge thank you to Megan Welker who drove up to photograph with me, enjoy my favorites from the day.

Was up in Long Beach a while back to hang out with Marjoriemay, John and their little (big) dude Hogan. We started off at downtown Long Beach then headed to the shoreline for some beautiful light. Can’t wait for their wedding in October!

I traveled up to Dana Point for a family session with amazing wedding photographer Ashley Rose, her husband Jeff and their little dude named Crew (oh what, J + Crew! Ashley doesn’t work in this joke). We headed down to Salt Creek Beach and proceeded to get attacked by the sun, I think I did more crying than Crew did. But we had a blast and I am now witness to Crew’s famous blank camera stare which I so happily captured. Enjoy some of my favorites from the day.

Loved this engagement session I did a while back with Trisha and Jeff at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles. They wanted to showcase their cultures for the first half, with Jeff being Filipino and Trisha half Filipino and half Indian, so Jeff wore his barong Tagalog and Trisha her sari. The second half was fun filled with a giant red balloon, I thought Trisha was going to knock Jeff out with that thing. Tomorrow is their wedding day, so come back for more.

I headed up for a foodie day trip to San Francisco to meet up with Jesse and Chi-Na. As soon as they picked me up from the airport we went on an eating binge: Tartine, Pizzeria Delfina, Dynamo, Boccalone, Cowgirl Creamery, Blue Bottle, then Hog Island Oyster Company. I spared you from posting photographs from each restaurant because if you read this post hungry, you may get upset, haha. But after all the food it was portrait time, so we headed to Golden Gate Park and the Sutro Baths to some beautiful light. I must shoot better with a food coma.

I’ll be out of town from June 11th through the 20th, the first half of my trip will be to Hawaii for the wedding of AJ and Jelynna then the second half will be to New York City. I will do my best to respond to all emails and inquiries in a timely fashion. But till then, I wanted to introduce you to Refix Magazine, a new online publication created by one of my best friends Andrea. She has been working hard to promote green living and fashion and this magazine is a product of months of hard work! Check out the magazine as I have a spread of photographs starting on page 36 and another one of my amazing photographer friends Emily Sandifer has some of her gorgeous work featured as well!

A few weeks ago I traveled up to Orange County for the wedding of Jomie and Ricky at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art. Jomie and Ricky rocked the modern and minimalistic venue with the help of Christina of Simply Modern Weddings, who I might add is one of the funnest and raddest coordinators I have had the pleasure to work with! She’s so rad she got us a feature on Green Wedding Shoes, which showcases so many of the great details that were on display. Another person who I want to give a big thanks to is my second photographer Marissa Rodriguez, who rocked the third camera as usual. On to the photos!
