Before we get into all the hoopla about my best friend Mary and her new hubby Josh's wedding, I have a little side story to go along with the love-filled weekend. Mary's cousin, Jun asked me if I could take some family pictures the day after the wedding, since the whole family was flying in from New Jersey and would love some pictures on the West coast. But the family session was only a front for what was to be his real agenda, a proposal to his girlfriend Colleen.

We were all pretty nervous the day of, as the day of Mary and Josh's wedding was picture perfect, the fog bank in Santa Barbara rolled in the morning of the proposal. But the goal was to write "will you marry me?" in the sand, so we we decided we would use the beach no matter what. I had a friend Jacqueline with me who was to be the sand writer, she was feeling the pressure as she is from Canada and has only written in snow and not sand, hahaha just kidding! But we began the family shoot and I sent Jacqueline off to go "explore" the beach while I began the family portraits. We had a fun time and when it was all over, the rest of Jun's family went back to the hotel while Jun and Colleen took a nice stroll on the coast, I pretended to be looking for Jacqueline and followed closely behind them. Here's her reaction pictures!

Here's a shot from Jacqueline's point of view.

She obviously said YES!

Apparently, getting proposed to in California is a tradition for Colleen's family, haha.

If you are wondering how Jacqueline's sand writing looks, she did ok, she did mess up the E a bit though, haha, jk!

So an extended congratulations to Jun and Colleen, I look forward to photographing their wedding! Oh and if you were wondering how the family photo looks, I think it looks much more complete now that Colleen is going to officially be part of the family!

I had a blast working with Nicole and Ron last weekend, we ran all around San Diego in search of perfect photographs. There has been a running joke between me and Nicole, her being a huge Twilight fan and me not reading or seeing any of the movies and yet being surrounded by all the ladies in my family who are huge Twilight fans as well. So the morning of their engagement shoot I watched the movie to prep myself and while I did enjoy the first half of the movie, the second half seemed so rushed. But anyway, I spent about two hours last night trying to Photoshop the "Twilight glow" that Edward Cullen has when steps into daylight like in the movie, but I failed miserably, haha. So while there are no cool Twilighty effects on my photographs, I still think we came out with some hot stuff.

You bet we went into the trees, haha.

The shot on the right was the one I spent hours trying to glow, you'd think it would be easy right?

From my sneak peek, I just love this shot.

Nic:
Love it!

As you can see from my last post, I flew up to San Francisco to photograph the wonderful Mariel and Joey. Mariel is originally from San Diego and had gone up to the Bay Area for college and had met Joey there. Now living in San Francisco, they will be coming back to San Diego for their wedding in July! We had a lot of fun photographing together, even with a brief rain delay we got so many great shots!

I was waiting for the kid on the scooter in the background to pass through, but he was so slow I just decided to include him in the shot! Haha, it made for a funnier picture!

You would never guess it was raining from their smiles!
