Hola! My name is Chaz Cruz and I am a photographer based out of San Diego, CA. My specialties include weddings, fashion and lifestyle portraits. This blog is named after my obsession with "The Office" and of a lovable character named Creed Bratton. He writes about his random musings under a blog titled "Creed Thoughts," so I thought I'd do the same and name it "Chaz Thoughts." So please, browse around and don't forget to leave me a comment or two!

Amy and Dan got in contact with me because they wanted some engagement photographs at the beaches of California before they moved back to the East Coast in a few weeks, so I was more than happy to oblige them! We headed out to La Jolla and got some shots around the village before we headed out towards the water.

I've been hugging my new canon 24 1.4L lens everyday just like Amy is hugging Dan.

I've been shooting for a while now and this is the 1st time I have EVER put a couple on the ground and shot from above, I should definitely do it more often.

Amy and Dan thought they didn't do the walking part very well, but I think they did great!

This is going to make all their friends on the East Coast jealous and maybe even a few on the West coast.

Abbey's a friend of mine from high school and college and I hadn't seen her in a few years, so it was cool that we got together again to photograph her engagement (and wedding in November) at the beach. I shot this engagement session back in December, so eleven months is a long time between an engagement shoot and a wedding! THe early session was out of necessity however, because AJ is in the Navy and was stationed in Virginia, so we weren't sure when the next time he would be able to return to San Diego. Since I had started my blog early this year, I had never blogged about their engagement shoot and with the wedding coming up, I thought now would be a great opportunity!

We worked on a lot on AJ's "fierce" face. He should have it down by the wedding.

Their coordination together is amazing, haha.

One of my faves.

This is a special post to me because its about my best friend Mary Miracle and her hubby-to-be Josh. I met mary when I was senior in high school, she had transferred from another high school and she stood because she had onion hair. Yes, her hair was shaped like an onion. We had started talking because we had a mutual friend from her old high school and since then we've been a team (she's the one who designed my logo as well). She had met Josh a few years ago and when I met him I could tell that they were an awesome pair, they are super fun to hang out with, especially when you go to casinos to play Blackjack with them!

But I will never forget the day that Mary told me she was engaged, I was on a break at a photoshoot when she called me.

"Hey Chaz, if I bought you a plane ticket would you go?"

Sure Mary.

"If I bought you a plane ticket to Hawaii would you go?"

Of course I would go to Hawaii.

"If I bought you a plane ticket to Hawaii to shoot my wedding would you go!?!"

Never!

Then I preceded to laugh and say of course I would do it! She then said one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me:

"If you were a girl, I would have made you my Maid of Honor."

That was very special to me, even though if I was a girl I still would've been her photographer (Chazmonia Cruz Photography). But I honored to be able to photograph my best friends wedding, its the best present I can ever give them.

We saw this great tree and Mary said she wanted to climb in it, so I said like "K-I-S-S-I-N-G?" Haha, so we came up with a great "save the date" slogan!

I first met Jorel about ten years ago at my sisters eighteenth birthday party, I remember he was one of the nicer friends of my sisters, a lot of the other guys were jerks, haha just kidding. But I thought it was cool that Jorel and Christine chose me to photograph their wedding next month, they are a very fun couple and they don't mind my strange sense of humor while I shoot. So we went to two different places for their engagement session, to Sunset Cliffs where Jorel proposed to Christine, and to downtown San Diego. Jorel and Christine's son, Jaythan, also came along during the downtown session, we had to leave him behind for the Sunset Cliffs session because of all the smooching that was going to go down, haha!
